Additional Counseling Support Now at Students’ Fingertips 24/7 |
|
Even in the best of circumstances, college is stressful. Whether it's stress, anxiety, depression, relationship problems or something else interfering with students' emotional wellbeing and academic success, talking to an experienced professional at the right time can make a positive difference. W&L provides tremendous resources on campus to meet many of these needs with our students. And starting Nov. 1, the university expanded its counseling offerings by partnering with a third party, LifeWorks, to provide the My Student Support Program (My SSP) to all W&L students. |
My SSP complements the university's existing counseling services and provides students free and confidential mental health and wellbeing support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. No appointment is needed to receive immediate phone and online/app chat support from licensed counselors. Short-term scheduled support with a counselor is also available via phone or video. My SSP app content and support are provided in multiple languages. Students can access My SSP by: |

In every episode of Washington and Lee's Office of Lifelong Learning podcast, "W&L After Class," we invite you to join conversations with our expert faculty, giving you a walk down the Colonnade even if you're hundreds of miles away. You'll hear from favorite faculty members about topics they know and love and meet new professors who can introduce you to new worlds. |
The latest episode features George Bent, the Sidney Gause Childress Professor of the Arts at W&L, who talks about what inspired his love of art history, why he loves teaching it, and how he has engaged students in a remarkable digital history project, "Florence As It Was," that is reconstructing the Italian city the way it appeared at the end of the 15th century.
