A Note From Campus
Campus is buzzing as our student-athletes make their way back to Lexington. This is my favorite time of year — energy fills every corner of campus, and new and returning students fill up Lexington.
We have much to look forward to this fall, but, first, let's celebrate last year's incredible accomplishments. W&L raised a record $223.7 million, continued to grow in admissions selectivity and excelled across the classroom, in the Lenfest Center for the Arts and on the playing fields. National recognition followed, with the Princeton Review highlighting W&L for Great Financial Aid (#1), Best Classroom Experience (#1), Best Alumni Network (Private Schools #3) and Best Career Services (#3) in its "Best 391 Colleges." In its new "Top Colleges 2025: The 50 best colleges for long-term career success in the U.S.," LinkedIn rated W&L #2 among liberal arts colleges and as a Top 5 school for Job Placement & Network Strength.
As I often say on the road, our trajectory has never been stronger, and I've never been prouder to be part of W&L. The data and rankings simply confirm what we already know — this community is thriving.
You'll find more on these highlights in this month's Generally Speaking. Our fall calendar is packed, starting with Young Alumni Weekend, Sept. 19–21 — check the Alumni Events section for details. We'll also launch our new alumni directory soon, so keep an eye out for an email from Alumni Engagement with access instructions. In addition, the Alumni Board of Trustee election process begins this academic year, with notices going out early next month. I'm grateful to the Board of Trustees for entrusting us with this opportunity.
Finally, if you're on campus, stop by Hotchkiss House — we'd love to see you.
