Wishing you and your loved ones a happy and healthy holiday season! It has been a busy end to the term, which you can read about in President Dudley's update below. I also want to highlight and congratulate the 12 W&L students who were awarded Gilman Scholarships — our largest Gilman cohort ever. |
If you are looking for ways to stay busy over the holidays, make sure to tune in and watch our amazing student-athletes. The Generals are in action throughout the next three weeks, and you can follow all the action at www.generalssports.com. If the fall season is any indication, we could be watching a lot of victories! |

2024: The Year in Review from President Dudley |
At the end of each Fall Term, as the calendar year draws to a close, I pause to reflect on the many things we have to be thankful for here at Washington and Lee. 2024 was exceptional by any measure. Here are some of the notable achievements of our students, faculty and staff over the past 12 months, all of which were possible thanks to the generosity of our alumni, parents and friends.

Leading Lives of Consequence: The Campaign for Washington and Lee |
Generations of Generosity
The importance of philanthropy is a value that Billy Webster ’79 instilled in his children from a young age. Webster, who is chairing the Leading Lives of Consequence campaign, also passed down the love of his alma mater to his children, Will Webster ’20 and Lily Webster ’22. This combination of generosity and passion for their shared university culminated in October when Will and Lily surprised their father with a combined $50,000 gift to the campaign in his honor. |

2025 Institute for Honor Symposium
The 2025 IFH Symposium will consider “Food, Housing and Health: Exploring Corporate Impact on the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals in the Shenandoah Valley.” In 2015, the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which included 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The goals are an urgent call for action by all countries in global partnership to combat poverty through strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality and spur economic growth. The IFH symposium will explore the intersection of corporate responsibility and development from varied perspectives, particularly relating to access to food, housing and health care, with Ambassador Ertharin Cousin delivering the keynote address. |
