Try This Win-Win to Pay Less Taxes |
|
If you owe money or received a smaller tax refund than expected, now is the time to plan for next year's taxes. Many employees change their federal and state tax withholding (see Q&A No. 14) this time of year to increase the amount withheld. While this remains an option, consider other alternatives. Increasing contributions to your TIAA or Fidelity retirement plan can benefit you in two ways: you save more for retirement while lowering your taxable income and tax liability. The IRS determines the maximum annual contribution to retirement accounts based on age and length of service at W&L. For more information about changing your retirement contribution in Workday, visit Q&A #2 at the link above. Do you still have questions? Contact Mariel Potter or Jason Bunn for additional assistance. |
