W&L Students Awarded Fulbright Scholarships
A total of six individuals accepted the scholarship this year.
Jonathan McEwen ’27 Earns Jack Nicklaus Award as the Division III Golfer of the Year
The rising junior was presented the award at the Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio, on June 1.
Leandro Laperne ’28 Participates in the American Enterprise Institute Summer Honors Program
The rising sophomore completed a week-long program held in Washington, D.C.
Lela Casey ’25 Receives Fellowship from the Center for Arabic Study Abroad
The recent graduate will serve a year-long fellowship studying Arabic in Morocco.
W&L’s Kiki Mittner ’25 Earns U.S. Teaching Assistantship to Austria
Mittner will teach English in her grandmother’s Austrian hometown before attending law school.

Summer Explorations I "Discover the Middle Ages: A Week of Exploration, Connection and Insight"
This program, held on campus July 6-11, invites you to journey through the vibrant heart of the Middle Ages, where city-states in Italy flourished, national monarchies consolidated power and the Caliphates emerged in the Muslim world. Explore the dynamics of religious and cultural exchange between Christians, Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists and learn how these interactions, often contentious, fueled lasting conflicts — and enduring legacies.

Summer Explorations II "Digging into History: A W&L Family Adventure in Archaeology"
Join us from July 20-23 to enjoy the Washington and Lee college experience as a family. Families are invited to discover the methods, technologies and sources archaeologists use to “see” things that are no longer visible.

Upper-Division Student Move-In
Housing reopens for all upper-division students on Aug. 29 (beginning as early as midnight). There will be a check-in table at the Office of Public Safety on Aug. 29 and 30. Students will receive an email in August with more information about check-in. All upper division students are required to check-in and receive a room key. Students arriving after the check-in station is closed or after Aug. 30 must check-in with and retrieve their key from Public Safety dispatch.
