Note from the Dean
Thank you for my pretty good first year at W&L! It was a pleasure to meet you all and begin to set the course for your department/program goals and for achieving progress on the strategic plan. We have a lot of new faculty joining us in the College this Fall term and I look forward to welcoming them to campus soon. I hope you are having a restorative and productive time during these waning days of summer break,
See you soon,
There are three new faces in the Office of the Dean of the College we'd like to take a moment and introduce them.

The new Associate Dean of the College for Administrative Affairs is Kevin Beanland. Kevin has been with W&L since 2013 and now he is Professor of Mathematics.  He earned his Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of South Carolina. Kevin's work in mathematical analysis has taken him across the Americas and Europe. His research has been funded by the National Science Foundation and he received a Fullbright research grant. Kevin's wife is a novelist and they're the proud parents of three beautiful children. When not working or spending time with his family Kevin likes to read, listen to podcasts and keep up with his favorite sports teams, especially if his teams are doing well.
Michael Berlin is the new director of the Writing Program and Visiting Assistant Professor of English. He earned his PhD from University of California--Irvine and joins us here on the faculty this academic year. With an advisory committee, Michael will be overseeing writing-intensive course designations and course offerings, recruiting faculty to teach writing and ensuring we are meeting the student learning outcomes.
The new Executive Assistant to the Dean of the College is Erika Barajas. Erika will be helping with scheduling and event planning.
