| Undergrads just returned from spring break, which has marked the beginning of Spring Term. And law students are deep in exam prep, counting down the days until finals and graduation. All of this signals one thing: Alumni Weekend is almost here! We can't wait to welcome the 1's and 6's back to campus later this week, April 30-May 3. There's still time to join your classmates and celebrate all things W&L. I'm especially looking forward to celebrating my 25th reunion alongside my classmates. |
| Finally, I am excited to share the proposed slate of directors for the Alumni Board. Per our by-laws, the slate came out of the Director Nominating Committee and to the full Alumni Board, which voted yay. The official vote will be at the Alumni Association's annual meeting during Alumni Weekend. |

| Are You Receiving University Publications? |
|
| In recent months, W&L switched its constituent records platform to a new management system, and we want to ensure that all alumni are continuing to receive university communications as intended. Please email alumni@wlu.edu if you are no longer receiving printed publications such as W&L: The Washington and Lee Magazine and President's Report 2025-2026 (mailed in February) or if you notice any errors on your mailing labels. |

Summer College I: The Founding of an Independent Nation at 250 |
On June 11, 1776, the Continental Congress appointed a Committee of Five to draft a Declaration of Independence. On June 11, 2026, 250 years later, Washington and Lee University will gather a collection of scholars, alumni and friends to discuss the significance of what that Committee of Five started so long ago. This timely and celebratory Summer College experience will not only reflect on the events that led to that Declaration but its legacy in the lives of presidents, government institutions and the American people. Summer College II: From Stone to Smartphone: “Books” and the Materiality of Reading |
Through presentations and hands-on exploration of our own collections, this program from June 26-29 surveys the world of “book history,” illuminating the study of books through attention to the processes of manufacture, the physical traces of previous readers and the aspirations of authors. The program will also see the book through to the 21st century, a time when digital innovation — and AI — have changed reading experiences forever. Summer College II falls during the yearlong celebration of the 250th anniversary of the University Library. Participants will have opportunities to explore the treasures of Special Collections and Archives and learn more about the history of one of the oldest libraries in the country. Learn more
