| And just like that, another academic year has come to a close. It is always such a fun moment to watch caps fly on the Front Lawn, marking the newest additions to our wonderful group of alumni. Welcome to the family, Class of 2026! And thank you for giving back: 70% of the Class of 2026 supported the W&L Fund (see more below). |
| While the rhythm changes on campus in the summer, it still buzzes here. Lifelong Learning just concluded its Summer College, which investigated the founding of the U.S. 250 years ago. And many students remain in Lexington to conduct research alongside faculty members across the academic spectrum. |
| In the midst of your summer vacation and travels, be sure to check in with your local alumni chapter to see what events it will be holding this season. And always feel free to stop in for a visit if you're passing by the Lexington area! |

Give to the W&L Fund |
| Sharpen your mind. Steady your voice. Strengthen your will to serve. That's why Ashton Mouton '28 chose Washington and Lee University, and it's why your support of the W&L Fund matters. The W&L Fund is one of the cornerstones of the Leading Lives of Consequence campaign, powering the education that produces graduates who go out and change the world. Our fiscal year ends June 30. Give today. |

Jonathan McEwen '27 earned the Jack Nicklaus Award as the Division III Golfer of the Year for the second straight year. The Jack Nicklaus Award, established in 1988, is one of the highest individual honors in collegiate golf and honors the top men's golfer at every level of collegiate golf, including NCAA Divisions I, II and III, as well as the NAIA and NJCAA. The honor marks McEwen's third consecutive national award; he was named the Division III recipient of the Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman of the Year Award in 2024 and earned his first Jack Nicklaus Award in 2025, becoming just the 11th golfer to win the honor more than once in the award's 38-year history. He also became the second golfer in Division III history to win in back-to-back seasons, joining Hope College's Josh Gibson, who won the award in 2018 and 2019. In addition, this year McEwen became the fourth Division III player to be selected to compete in the 2026 Arnold Palmer Cup held July 3-5 in West Barrow, Ireland, at the Tralee Golf Links. |

| Washington and Lee athletics wrapped up another strong year in May, headlined by women's golf placing fourth at the NCAA Division III Championship tournament in Palm Desert, California — the highest finish in program history. The Generals, who won five team ODAC championships in the spring season, had one of their best overall years. W&L placed 12th (tied for the best finish in school history) in the final Learfield Directors' Cup standings, while accumulating 803.75 points for the entire academic year, an all-time school record. |

Why I Give | Mike McAlevey ’86, P’17, P’20
|
|
“I was a first-generation student, and somebody before me gave generously to the university. My family’s giving is simply about passing it along, paying it back and forward.” |
