W&L's Contact Committee, the Journalism Department and the Office of Alumni Engagement co-sponsored an event on March 15 in the University Chapel with Kaylee Hartung ’07, sideline reporter for Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime Video and correspondent for NBC’s The Today Show, and Pro Football Hall of Famer Troy Aikman P’24, former quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys and current Monday Night Football on ESPN commentator.

"The first thing I did when I returned to campus was take a walk down The Colonnade. I got emotional about it, because it's so special to me. Every time I come back here, I'm reminded again and again how much I owe to this place." — Kaylee Hartung '07 |

This year's Five-Star Festival and the Institute for Honor Symposium kicked off what will be a packed spring season at W&L. It was an honor to welcome back our Five-Star alumni, especially the Classes of 1969, 1964 and 1959 celebrating their 55th, 60th and 65th reunions! Be sure to read about the three Distinguished Alumni Award winners: John Carrere '69, Barry Green '64 and Lewis 'Lash' LaRue '59 and the Institute for Honor's keynote speaker, journalist and author Beth Macy. |
Finally, I am excited to share the proposed slate of directors for the Alumni Board (below). Per our by-laws, the slate came out of the Director Nominating Committee and to the full Alumni Board who voted yay. The official vote will be at the Alumni Association's annual meeting during Alumni Weekend this May. |

W&L's Honor System |
The Honor System at Washington and Lee—one of the university's most important traditions, tracing back to the mid-1840s—connects every student who calls W&L home. The understanding that students are expected to represent themselves truthfully and seek no unfair advantage over their peers instills a profound sense of trust among all within the university community and enriches every aspect of student life. |
This video, shown during the 2024 Institute for Honor Symposium, showcases how the Honor System continues to shape the W&L community. |
