Alumni returned to campus for the Entrepreneurship Summit.

A Note From Campus
Campus is buzzing in every sense, with tree buds making their first appearance and our packed spring programming officially underway. And for those not in Lexington, make sure to check out this 360-degree video taken on one of our first warm days this year, and remember the times you, too, experienced a class outdoors.
We just concluded a wonderful weekend with the Entrepreneurship Summit, the Institute for Honor and the earth and environmental geoscience reunion, and we have the Tom Wolfe Weekend Seminar and Alumni Weekend fast approaching. In addition, voting in the alumni trustee election will open on April 2, so please make sure to register for Colonnade Connections (the only way to vote!) and contribute your voice to this important process.
I urge you to also watch the new Speaking Tradition video shared below, which is part of our video series highlighting different aspects of the W&L DNA. The first video of the series focused on the Honor System, and both showcase why W&L is such a unique and special place.

The Speaking Tradition
Washington and Lee University is more than a top-ranked, private liberal arts school – it's a place where connections are made, bonds are forged and paths are discovered. To showcase W&L's sense of community and distinctive culture, we are creating a series of videos, each highlighting a different aspect of what makes our university so unique.
Our newest video focuses on the Speaking Tradition, an unmistakable part of W&L's cultural DNA that creates a campus where personal engagement is second nature.
Follow us on YouTube (@washingtonandlee) to see future videos in this series, as well as additional video content about the university.

Making History
Mary Schleusner '26 was named the 2026 recipient of the Jostens Trophy by the Rotary Club of Salem, a national award recognizing the most outstanding men's and women's Division III basketball players of the year. The award focuses on three major criteria: basketball ability, academic prowess and service to one's surrounding communities. Schleusner is the first basketball player from Washington and Lee to win the award; she is also the third player in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) history and the first since 2015 to win the award. Additionally, Schleusner was named NCAA D-III Player of the Year by D3Hoops.com. She is the first player in program history to be named the country's top player, also collecting her third straight All-America honor from the organization.
Schleusner joins Jonathan McEwen '27 as a national player of the year. McEwen was named the 2025 NCAA D-III Golfer of the Year from the Golf Coaches Association of America last June.
