MLK Children's Birthday Party Celebration
11 a.m.-1 p.m. Evans Hall
|
Children of the Lexington and Rockbridge County community are invited to attend a birthday celebration in honor of Dr. King. There will be games, face painting, and arts and crafts. As part of the celebration, attendees will be making gift bags to donate to local organizations. This activity is appropriate for people of all ages interested in a community service project. Cake, snacks and punch will be provided. |

DeLaney Center's Screen to Square - “Till”

As part of W&L's MLK Week celebration, the DeLaney Center will screen the film ”Till,“ a movie that explores how Mamie Till-Mobley relentlessly sought justice after her son’s death. Afterwards, panelists including W&L Law School Professor Maureen Edobor will propel us into a rich conversation. The event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served. More Info

The concert honors the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Back for the first time since before the COVID-19 pandemic, the performance will feature readings of speeches and poems by King, Maya Angelou, Langston Hughes and others, interspersed with musical reflections performed by W&L’s University Singers, Glee Club and Cantatrici.
