DeLaney Reading Club Breakfast: Emma Malinak ’25
8-9 a.m. Gin Hotel First Floor Banquet Room
The Reading Club Breakfast will set the stage for the afternoon DeLaney Dialogue session as participants read and discuss two articles Malinak has written in the last year, one on the past and present of Lynchburg’s first integrated library, and another on a community effort to revitalize a historic Black community hub. The breakfast is free and open to the community.

12-1 p.m. Reeves Museum of Ceramics
Malinak’s discussion, “When History Makes Headlines: Reporting Race in the 21st-Century South,” centers on the articles she has written about the Black community in Lynchburg, Virginia. The session will take a deeper dive into Malinak’s articles and the intricacies of covering race-related topics in the 21st-century South. The event is free and open to the public and includes lunch.

National Theater Live: “The Audience”
7:30 p.m. Stackhouse Theater
The Lenfest Center will conclude its National Theatre Live series with a screening of “The Audience.” The screening is also part of the Lenfest Center’s Outreach & Engagement (O&E) series. Tickets are required and can be purchased online or in person at the Lenfest Center box office.

W&L presents the premiere of “The Brownsburg Conversations,” a documentary by Nich Perez, the DeLaney filmmaker-in-residence with W&L’s Department of Journalism and Mass Communications. The film screening is free and open to the public, and no tickets are required. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and a question-and-answer session will follow the screening.
