News From The Columns W&L Graduates 453 Students at 236th Commencement In his remarks, President Will Dudley told the Class of 2023 the ability to think freely, critically, and humanely has prepared them to be conscientious interpreters of the world. W&L to Perform Maintenance on Ivy Adorning University Chapel The iconic vines will receive significant pruning to ensure their overall health. W&L Welcomes New Trustees Cynthia Cheatham ’07, Kelly Golub ’93 and Jim Lawson ’77 All three were sworn in as trustees of their alma mater on May 19. Students Continue to Receive Numerous Prestigious Grants and Fellowships Allie Stankewich '23, Wren Markley '23, Christy Childs '26 and Griffin Conti '26 all received funding for international learning. Kress Foundation All funds will support W&L students with Professor George Bent’s digital humanities project “Florence As It Was.” W&L Law’s Trammell Selected to Present at Yale/Stanford/Harvard Junior Faculty Forum Alan Trammell will present "The False Promise of Jurisdiction Stripping," which is forthcoming in the Columbia Law Review. Brandon Uhl Selected Old Dominion Athletic Conference Outdoor Men’s Track & Field Coach of the Year Generals’ Head Coach garners the award for the third time across his 11 seasons. Chris Seaman Named Robert E.R. Huntley Professor of Law Seaman joined the Washington and Lee Law faculty in 2012. His research and teaching interests include intellectual property, property, and election law and voting rights. Computer Purchase Program This a friendly reminder that the university offers interest-free loans to purchase a personal computer and printer. Employees must have completed six or more months in a benefit-eligible position. Loans may not exceed $4,000 and must be repaid within 24 months through payroll deduction.
