Undergraduate Commencement - May 26, 2022
Graduation for the Class of 2022 is just weeks away! The university's 235th undergraduate Commencement is scheduled for Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 10 a.m. on the Front Lawn of the main campus. The Baccalaureate Service is scheduled for Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at 10 a.m., also on the Front Lawn of the main campus, between the Colonnade and University Chapel. Commencement ceremonies will be broadcast live on the Web for those unable to attend. Learn more about Commencement here.

ARTrageous, an art-filled family show described by Chicago Tribune as “Picasso meets Blue Man Group,” comes to the Lenfest Center at Washington and Lee University on April 28 at 7:30 p.m.

Ted Elliott ’94 to Keynote W&L Entrepreneurship Summit
W&L's 10th Annual Entrepreneurship Summit will feature a keynote address by Ted Elliott ’94, chief executive officer of Copado.
 
Washington and Lee Athletics
Washington and Lee Michael F. Walsh Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn recently announced that a record 372 student-athletes have received the Scholar-Athlete Award after compiling a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.50 during the Fall Term. All 24 teams produced a cumulative team GPA of 3.36 or better.
Here are some highlights from the Generals' spring sports teams:
  • Women's Golf - The Blue and White won their fourth straight Old Dominion Athletic Conference championship.
  • Baseball - W&L completed its conference season by defeating Bridgewater, improving to 18-14 overall and 12-8 in the ODAC.
  • Men's Lacrosse - 20th-ranked Generals (11-5) won their seventh straight contest, registering a 19-4 road victory at Shenandoah.
  • Women's Lacrosse - Fifth-ranked W&L (13-2) posted a 10-5 victory over Denison, the team's 11th win a row.
  • Women's Tennis - 18th-ranked Blue and White defeated Lynchburg, improving to 10-6 overall and 7-0 in the ODAC with the victory.
  • Men's Tennis - Generals (11-8) closed the regular-season with their ninth straight win, defeating Franklin & Marshall.
W&L will be hosting conference championships for men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, men's tennis and women's tennis May 6-8. View the 2022 composite sports schedule.

In every episode of Washington and Lee's Office of Lifelong Learning podcast, "W&L After Class," we invite you to join conversations with our expert faculty, giving you a walk down the Colonnade even if you're hundreds of miles away. You'll hear from favorite faculty members about topics they know and love, and meet new professors who can introduce you to new worlds.
In the latest episode, Megan Hess, associate professor of accounting, discusses her passion for teaching, how she grew up to love accounting, and what it's like to investigate corporate fraud in a new episode of "W&L After Class: The Lifelong Learning Podcast" titled "Accountant or Detective: A Credit to Her Profession." Hess, a 1997 graduate of W&L, focuses her research and teaching on the intersection of ethics and accounting, exploring topics such as fraud risk management, ethical leadership, whistle-blowing and sustainability accounting.
