Undergraduate Commencement - May 25, 2023
Graduation for the Class of 2023 is just weeks away! The university's 236th undergraduate Commencement is scheduled for Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 10 a.m. on the Front Lawn of the main campus. The Baccalaureate Service is scheduled for Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at 10 a.m., also on the Front Lawn. Commencement ceremonies will be broadcast live on the web for those unable to attend. W&L Hosts 18th Annual Tom Wolfe Weekend
The weekend’s seminar will feature Amor Towles discussing his latest book, “The Lincoln Highway.” His talk on April 28 will be streamed online at livestream.com/wlu.
Author Shruti Swamy and Poet Kelly Hoffer to Give Glasgow Endowment Reading at W&L
The public reading will take place May 1 at 7 p.m. in Northen Auditorium inside Leyburn Library.
W&L Spring Term Course to Host Former Federal Appellate Judge
The Honorable J. Michael Luttig ’76 will visit campus to reflect on his career and discuss his views on recent challenges to democracy and the rule of law. The May 9 event will be streamed online at livestream.com/wlu.
 
Washington and Lee Athletics
W&L offers 24 varsity sports, 12 for men and 12 for women. All sports compete at the NCAA Division III level, and most participate in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). Spring sports are entering their final stages, and the Generals are preparing for postseason competition. The latest episode, "Paying It Forward," features Michael Hill, professor and chair of the Africana Studies program and the director of the university's new DeLaney Center, an interdisciplinary academic center for teaching and research on Southern race relations, culture, and politics. Hill connects the dots between his formative years and strong bonds to his family, his teaching and research, and his latest role as the DeLaney Center's inaugural director in shaping its programming, research and aspirations.
