Reminders for Parents and Students
You bought the twin XL sheets, your student and their roommate(s) have decided whether they want to bunk their beds, the dorm wall-friendly décor has been packed and it's time to head to Lexington! Is your student ready for another (or their first!) year at W&L?
First-year students will move in on Saturday, Aug. 26. You will receive your specific move-in timeslot via WLU email, and it is imperative that you arrive during your scheduled time. First-year students live in two residence halls with co-ed floors and on-site laundry, and the First-Year Orientation Committee, Residential Life staff and student volunteers all come out to help with first-year move-in.
Feel like you're forgetting something? Check out W&L's "What to Bring" page to help you pack! You can find answers to more frequently asked questions here, and learn more about supporting your student's transition to college on the First-Year Experience website. Additional resources for parents and families can be found on the W&L Families Dashboard.
All upper-division students, including transfer students, will move in on Sunday, Sept. 3. We look forward to welcoming you back to campus for another exciting year at W&L! Our Student Life webpage is a great resource for parents of new and returning students, with information on campus organizations and activities, student services, career and professional development opportunities, university policies and much more.

Lifelong Learning for W&L Parents
In every episode of Washington and Lee's Office of Lifelong Learning podcast, "W&L After Class," we invite parents and families to join conversations with our expert faculty about their teaching, research and passion projects. Recent episodes feature Rob Fure, recently retired director of Lifelong Learning, and Tom Camden '76, recently retired head of Special Collections and Archives. Fure discusses his work in bringing the W&L community together in the spirit of lifelong learning and reflects on his 46 years of service to the university. Camden details how W&L ignited his career as a historian and takes the audience on a tour of "the vault" to showcase some of the university's extensive archival collections.
