Undergraduate Commencement - May 26, 2022
Graduation is on the horizon for the Class of 2022! The university's 235th undergraduate Commencement is scheduled for Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 10 a.m. on the Front Lawn of the main campus. The Baccalaureate Service is scheduled for Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at 10 a.m., also on the Front Lawn. Commencement ceremonies will be broadcast live on the Web for those unable to attend.

Washington and Lee Athletics
The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association recently announced its 2022 Hall of Fame Class, and the Washington and Lee Michael F. Walsh Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn will be inducted as one of the three honorees. Hathorn directed W&L's women's lacrosse program from its inception in 1988 through the 2007 season, and her W&L teams appeared in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 1993, 1998, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. Hathorn claimed a 277-112 (.712) career record over 24 seasons, with 222 of those victories occurring while leading the Generals.
As W&L winter sports enter the postseason, several student-athletes and coaches are being recognized for their outstanding performance.
  • Women's Basketball - Three players were honored; Christine Clancy was named Coach of the Year.
  • Men's Basketball - Two Generals receive ODAC recognition.
  • Wrestling - Four Generals named first team all conference; Nathan Shearer was named Coach of the Year.
  • Women's Swimming - ODAC honors 16 members of Blue and White; Kami Gardner named Coach of the Year.
  • Men's Swimming - 15 swimmers earn ODAC citations; Kami Gardner recognized as Coach of the Year.

In every episode of Washington and Lee's Office of Lifelong Learning podcast, "W&L After Class," we invite you to join conversations with our expert faculty, giving you a walk down the Colonnade even if you're hundreds of miles away. You'll hear from favorite faculty members about topics they know and love, and meet new professors who can introduce you to new worlds.
The latest episode features Taha Khan, assistant professor of computer science, who discusses his research on computer security, privacy and human-computer interaction - including cybercrime.
 
Program Spotlight: Center for International Education – Study Abroad
According to Washington and Lee University's mission statement, "graduates will be prepared for life-long learning, personal achievement, responsible leadership, service to others, and engaged citizenship in a global and diverse society." To that end, study abroad opportunities are one of the many fantastic experiences students can choose to undertake during their four years in Lexington. Approximately 70% of students participate in an abroad program during their time at W&L. This experience may take place through an academic year or full term abroad, a faculty-led Spring Term abroad course, summer programs, international internships, international research opportunities or service learning.
