Program Spotlight: Student Activities Office
The primary goals of Washington and Lee's Student Activities Office are to promote social connectivity and a sense of belonging, to offer students opportunities for leadership and personal growth, and to create programs that enrich students' time on our campus. Student Activities strives to provide healthy, positive outlets for managing stress and deepening students' relationships with one another and the broader W&L community. Within the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, finding ways to combat the effects of student isolation has taken center stage, and the office will be offering a slate of dynamic, student-driven programming throughout Winter Term.
Kelsey Goodwin has served as director of Student Activities at W&L since 2016, providing training, collaboration and resources to more than 130 student organizations currently active on campus. She partners closely with other departments within the university's Student Affairs organization, such as Outdoor Education and Recreation, the Office of Inclusion and Engagement and the Office of Residence Life, to bring engaging programming to campus. Her role involves working closely with the Executive Committee and other student leaders across campus.
Goodwin has a master's degree in museum management from Seton Hall University and received her bachelor's degree in English from Roanoke College, with a concentration in creative writing. Goodwin joined W&L's Student Affairs division in 2010 as coordinator of Elrod Commons and quickly fell in love with creating programming for and with college students.
